FDA Takes Aim at Mercury

The US Food and Drug Administration has issued a consumer warning on its website warning about the health implications of mercury in cosmetics. FDA warned that if mercury is in the cosmetic, especially one that’s marketed as “anti-aging” or “skin lightening,” consumers should check the label. If the words “mercurous chloride,” “calomel,” “mercuric,” “mercurio,” or “mercury” are listed on the label, mercury’s in it—and you should stop using the product immediately.
